Life on MarsLife on Mars by Tracy K. Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Loved this poetry collection from our new Poet Laureate of the United States. Tracy K. Smith does an amazing job of describing the human condition, which is actually as broad and wide as the universe itself.

Cozy Mystery with Southern Charm... and Very Large Birds

The Good, the Bad, and the Emus (Meg Langslow, #17)The Good, the Bad, and the Emus by Donna Andrews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Meg Langslow uncovers more long-buried family secrets while Dr. Blake, her recently-reunited-with grandfather, attempts to round up feral emus, and the mysterious, reclusive Cousin Annabel claims her sister was murdered by the grumpy next door neighbor. Meg and private investigator Stanley Denton have, indeed, just narrowed the suspects to someone local... when the murderer strikes again.

I really enjoyed this tale and it's colorful characters, especially the various members of Meg's family and the determined woman in "Camp Emu" who insists on knitting sweaters for the poor, displaced birds.
