Latest Dan Brown Book

Origin (Robert Langdon, #5)Origin by Dan Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Where do we (humans) come from? Where are we going? Futurist Edmond Kirsch is at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain and is about to announce breakthrough scientific discoveries when he is brutally shot to death by an assailant in an old fashioned military uniform. Edmond’s friends Professor Robert Langdon (Da Vinci Code) and Ambra Vidal (fiancĂ©e to the king) have to out think security forces, unhappy religious officials, and other opponents in order to find the cryptic password that will release Edmond's discoveries to the world. Book 5 in the Robert Langdon series. OPINION: Heavy doses of art appreciation, European history, philosophy, comparative religion, architecture, and symbology might weigh the plot down, but Dan Brown successfully continues his signature writing style, with a mini cliffhanger at the end of each chapter. A good read, but not quite as action packed as the first two books in the series.

Gillian Anderson's The Sound of Seas

The Sound of Seas (The Earthend Saga #3)The Sound of Seas by Gillian Anderson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was really looking forward to the conclusion of this trilogy, but I have to say, it left me a little flat. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't feel like there were any major new concepts or philosophies introduced and the story played out just the way I thought it would. The idea of an ancient civilization in Antarctica is a fascinating one, however. Good characters. Enjoyable series overall.
