Future Home... Thought-Provoking Dystopian Novel

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
In the not-so-distant future, evolution suddenly starts going backward: chickens become lizards, dragonflies have three foot wingspans; food is becoming scarce; the government teeters on collapse; and pregnant women are being rounded up and confined in "birth center" prisons.
Cedar Songmaker is 26 and very pregnant when she is captured and confined. She escapes with the help of her mysterious roommate, her adoptive mom, and a secret underground organization that transports her to northern Minnesota. But will her Ojibwe birth parents and Catholic faith be enough to make spiritual sense of a changing planet? Will she and the baby survive? This is an action-paced, interesting, thought-provoking read.

Fun Summer Read

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Book 3 in the series. Robbie Jordan, owner of the Pan N Pancakes restaurant, finds another dead body under the ice, near South Lick, Indiana. This time it's an unpopular IU professor named Charles Stilton and Robbie's friend Lou is one of the top suspects. Very enjoyable, light reading with likeable characters but I'm still a little fuzzy on the killer's motive.
