A large Amish family is brutally murdered and Sheriff Kate, who was raised Amish, refuses to close the case until all the facts are uncovered. This is a well written, fast-paced mystery with a few more gory details than I probably needed. Looking forward to reading #3; did not read #1 but felt okay with the catch up information provided.

Loved this story! So many interesting relationships among both the living and the dead! It's book 5 in the series but it's not necessary to read the series in order. However, I am looking forward to book 6 to learn more about Verity Long, her cop friend Ellis, the unusual situation with his mom, Gangster Ghost Frankie, and Lucy the Pet Skunk. Great fun, but with serious underlying themes.
