I'm really enjoying this series and its setting in a secret community in the Canadian wilderness. This is book 2 and I would say it's absolutely necessary to read book 1 (City of the Lost) first to really understand who's who. I do have some feeling that this installment doesn't quite jive with the ending of book 1, however. But I haven't gone back to re-read anything. Good mystery; good characters.
